Ulrike A. Sawall-Rodriques (Dr. Uli)
Dr. Sawall-Rodriques is from Lubeck, Germany. She received her veterinarian degree from the Freie Universitat Berlin, Germany. Dr. Uli worked in the small animal veterinary clinic of her mother in Lubeck, Germany before completing her studies in Berlin. She has owned and operated Southshore Veterinary Service since 2008.
I have been working at Southshore Veterinary Service ever since I moved to Montana in 2002. I started out in a kennel and veterinary assistant position since I only carried my German veterinarian license. In 2007 I finally earned my American veterinarian license allowing me to practice veterinarian medicine at Southshore Veterinary Service. At the end of 2007, I purchased the clinic and continued to work as a veterinarian.
I love to take care and heal animals. I love to be part of people’s lives while needing help with their pets. I feel I am here for the animals and their owner.
What am I doing when I am not working at the clinic? Mostly I take time to be with my family. Which includes all of my animals! I love to go for walks/hikes-see my dogs having fun while I enjoy the fresh air. I do enjoy swimming, martial arts and some dancing. My best buddies at home are Pita, Kasimir and Letty – but of course there are many more….
Deborah Caldwell-Skow (Dr. Deb)
Dr. Deb Caldwell received her veterinary degree in 1980 from CSU. Along with raising Quarter Horses and alfalfa on their Colorado farm, she & her husband owned a veterinary practice there for 30 years. A lifelong dream was fulfilled with a move to Montana in 2015. Dr. Deb began working with Uli in January 2016. This wonderful opportunity has allowed Deb to continue helping animals and their caregivers, a passion she’s pursued over half her life. Deb spends free time with her family sharing all the Montana outdoors has to offer. Deb’s herd of horses, four Rottweilers and eleven cats are also thrilled to be living the Montana dream!
Justine Leon – Office Manager/Veterinary Technician
I started working here back in November 2012 and looking forward to many more years, learning and extending my skills here at Southshore. I started out working as a kennel technician and then started to pick up skills and helping in a technician position helping Dr. Uli. I now help with managing the clinic to run smoothly, along with our awesome crew we have here. It’s hard to pick what I love most about this job, but its a great feeling to help animals feel better and to learn the medical side. I love to see all of the animals that come into the clinic and to watch them to grow from puppies and kittens to adult cats and dogs, and of course the occasional bird and guinea pigs. I enjoy getting to know our clients as well, its always fun to see a familiar face. There is never a dull moment here and always something new to experience and learn about. I wouldn’t want to work in any other field. I have a very rewarding job that I love very much.
Kristin Likens – Veterinary Technician
I have worked at Southshore since July 2015. The best part about my job is all the animals I get to take care of and really getting to know both the owner and the pet. There is never a dull moment when I come to work. I love that I get to learn a bunch of new stuff and get to work with the staff here. I couldn’t ask for a better job. Everyone I get to work with are just the best and they make me feel at home. When I’m not at the clinic most likely you can find me doing something to my vehicle or just out enjoying life. I usually go hiking, camping, mudding, float the river, mostly anything that involves the outdoors. I am a country girl that loves trucks.
Whitnee Dennison – Receptionist
I have worked at Southshore since 2014. I have always been up front but once and awhile i get to help in the back. What I love most about my job are the people i get to work with and get to know and become friends with. Each day we get to learn and see new and exciting things. Dr. Uli is always willing to teach us new things and helping us to learn more in each of our positions. Things that I enjoy doing when I’m not working would be hanging out with friends and family. I hang out with my sisters a lot, we really enjoy going on dog walks together. We load up all 7 of our dogs and head out to the river for the afternoon so they can run. In the summer time we love to go horseback riding with our dad, camping, boating, hiking, watching dad work on his hot rod and pretty much anything outdoors.
Erin Cassidy – Receptionist
My name is Erin Cassidy-Hendricks. I am Montana born and bred and love the outdoors. I am all about my husband, our son, and our dogs. We are a military family, so coming back to this beautiful state is a dream that my husband and I had to make happen. I love seeing out son grow in this beautiful state!

Kiana Howell – Veterinary Technician (In training)
Growing up I have always had a passion for animals. I was the kid that would find a hurt animal and bring it home in a box to make sure it would get better. Last year I lost my dog, a childhood friend. It made me realize that I wanted to pursue my interests in helping other animals. I am new to the Clinic and am very excited to get to know everyone here and learn from them what it really takes to be a Vet Tech. When I am not working you can find me in the woods hunting or down by the river fishing with my new canine friend Duke! We love to take adventures together spending endless hours in the outdoors.
Josie Salois – Kennel Technician
I am a student attending Polson High School. I love animals, especially my dogs. I have three dogs. Annabelle is the biggest and fluffiest.
Sasha is the oldest and wisest and Bailey the youngest and most energetic. I am hoping to become either a veterinarian or a pilot, although I am still exploring my options. When I am not with my dogs you can find me boating, camping, hiking, travelling, spending time with my family, playing basketball or just chilling with my friends. I am definitely an adrenaline junkie. I love doing things to make my heart race. I absolutely love thunderstorms and I love almost everything about nature.
